Overview
This urban complex on the northern edge of Vancouver’s False Creek inlet is the largest private real estate project in North America. DA partnered with several other leading Vancouver design teams in creating a master plan that includes market and non-market housing, community schools, daycare facilities, parks and plazas, commercial retail space, and waterfront walkways and bicycle paths. DA was involved in developing three of the neighbourhoods – Yaletown Edge, Roundhouse and International Village – and has designed eight of the high-rise buildings and the elementary school.
The DA Difference
The master plan demonstrated to the client and the City that a high-density community could be very livable and marketable. The pedestrian-oriented plan provides clear connections to the existing downtown street grid and the established commercial and residential neighbourhoods. The variety of housing types, and the scale and arrangement of shopping streets, parks and waterfront walkways have created a strong sense of place for residents. Our team was fortunate to be invited to design numerous buildings in the community after the master plan was complete.
